SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - Four teenage boys will be tried as adults in the gang-related beating death of a 14-year-old boy in San Jose.

The San Jose Mercury News (http://bit.ly/S0WAqp ) reports Santa Clara County prosecutors have filed murder charges against the four teens in the death of Heriberto Reyes. If convicted, they could be sentenced to life in prison.

Reyes suffered massive head injuries and died three days after he was brutally beaten in Roosevelt Park on April 27.

Three men have been charged with murder in connection with Reyes' death.

The seven suspects also face attempted murder charges for the beating of one of Heriberto's relatives who tried to help the eighth grader.

San Jose police say Heriberto was attacked after a group confronted him and asked if he was a gang member.
