OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Bay Area Rapid Transit officials say they are investigating a new cell phone video recorded just before a transit officer fatally shot a 22-year-old man.
The video shows a different male officer punching someone on the train platform prior to the shooting.
It is unclear if the man being struck in the video is Oscar Grant, the man killed at the Fruitvale Station by BART police officer Johannes Mehserle early New Years Day. The new video was aired Saturday on KTVU-TV.
BART's general manager, Dorothy Dugger, says the investigation into the Grant shooting is ongoing and that investigators will fully examine any new evidence in the video.
Alameda County prosecutors have filed a murder charge against Mehserle, who has pleaded not guilty. No other officers have been
charged in the incident.
