Burglary Suspect In Custody After Police Standoff

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Los Angeles police say a burglary suspect who
barricaded himself inside a home has been taken into custody.

Police spokeswoman Officer Norma Eisenman says the suspect was
taken into custody early Saturday morning. She did not have additional details.

The suspect's arrest comes after a tense standoff with police. The man was wanted for 12 counts of burglary of motor vehicles and receiving stolen property.

When officers went to arrest him in Winnetka in the San Fernando Valley on Friday, he barricaded himself inside a home and refused to surrender.

He was believed to have been armed inside the home and SWAT officers fired tear gas inside in an attempt to get him out.
