LOS ANGELES (AP) - Hundreds of people have gathered at a Los
Angeles cathedral to mourn a 4-year-old boy killed by a stray gang
Cardinal Roger Mahony is officiating at Friday's downtown funeral Mass for Roberto Lopez Jr.
Many mourners wore T-shirts with his photo.
The boy was shot in the chest last week as he walked with his 5-year-old sister in a gang-plagued Echo Park neighborhood.
Police later arrested Howard Astorga, who is facing a murder charge. Police say the longtime gang member was shooting at rivals in a passing car and instead hit the boy, who died in his grandfather's arms.
Roberto's uncle says the family wants more police patrols around the neighborhood to prevent future tragedies.
