2 Escape Injury In SoCal Plane Crash

VENTURA, Calif. (AP) - Two people escaped injury after their plane crashed in the waters off the coast of Ventura.

The plane crashed about 12:30 p.m. Saturday near Emma Wood State

Pilot Rick Martinez, 43, of Camarillo and his passenger, Larry Graziano, 38, of Costa Rica, were quickly rescued from the water by people riding jet skies.

Authorities say Martinez had taken off from Camarillo Airport and was flying very low back and forth along the shoreline. The plane made a turn, caught a wing in the water, and flipped.

The ultralight plane was destroyed. An investigation into the cause of the crash is under way.
