SAN MATEO, Calif. (AP) - A man has died after a fire in a San Mateo apartment complex for seniors.
San Mateo Fire Department Battalion Chief Mike Keefe says after putting out a one-alarm fire at the Fountain Glen at the Villa complex firefighters found a man on the fifth floor of the five-story building.
Keefe says attempts to revive the man were unsuccessful. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The name or the age of the victim has not been released. The cause of death has not been determined.
The Web site for the FountainGlen at The Villa describes the complex as an apartment community designed for adults 55 years and older.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
