CARSON, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say a 41-year-old man died a day after a struggle with sheriff's deputies in Carson.
Los Angeles County sheriff's Deputy Ed Hernandez says Dennis Sapinoso of Carson died at a hospital late Sunday after a fight with deputies in which they used a series of less-lethal weapons to subdue him.
Hernandez says deputies had received a call that a man was attacking an elderly relative and when they arrived at the home Sapinoso began throwing things at them.
Hernandez says the man was taken to a hospital when he became unresponsive after being arrested, and died the next day.
The cause of death was not immediately known. An autopsy was pending.
