LOS ANGELES (AP) - Traffic remains backed up on the southbound U.S. Highway 101 in downtown Los Angeles after the driver of a new
Bentley Continental was critically wounded early this morning in a freeway shooting that riddled his car with bullets.
Police say the driver is a 25-year-old man whose name has not been immediately released.
Officials say he was wounded around 3:30 a.m. on the southbound 101 lanes in the Boyle Heights area just south of downtown L.A. He
is hospitalized in critical condition.
Traffic remains shut down on the freeway more than seven hours later.
Police Lt. Paul Vernon told Fox-TV there's at least 10 bullet holes in the car and the driver was slumped over his steering wheel.
No arrests have immediately been made.
