SACRAMENTO (AP) - There's not enough money to get Santa to the
state capital this year.
Organizers say they have been forced to cancel the annual Santa Parade held on Thanksgiving weekend because of lack of money.
Parade organizer Laurie Hensley says it's the first cancellation in the event's 26-year history.
Organizers were $15,000 short for stages, sound equipment and
cash prizes for parade participants.
Sixty groups were scheduled to take part in the parade, including school bands, youth groups and equestrian organizations.
