OC Jury Convicts Molester Of 2 Little Girls

SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) - A former Orange County man is facing 125 years to life in prison for molesting children as young as 3 years old.

Richard Alread was convicted Thursday in Santa Ana on 17 counts of molesting two children over a six-year period.

The 37-year-old former San Juan Capistrano man began molesting the girls when they were 6 and 3. They are now 20 and 18 years old.

Prosecutor Drew Haughton says the 20-year-old reported the crimes to the Orange County Sheriff's Department in 2006 after her boyfriend urged her to come forward.

Alread moved in 1988 to Oklahoma where he worked as a prison guard. The Muskogee County District Attorney's Office investigated
allegations that Alread molested two other girls there, but charges
weren't filed.
