Brothers Convicted Of Murder In Oakland Shooting

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - A jury has found two brothers guilty of murder in the shooting death of a man at an Oakland taco truck stand.

Nineteen-year-old Deandre Hill and his brother, 22-year-old Darryl Hill, of Oakland were convicted of first-degree murder by an Alameda County jury.

Abel Martinez Mejia of Richmond was shot Jan. 22 while on his lunch break.

Authorities say Darryl Hill shot the 41-year-old Mejia, a father of four, twice after his brother robbed the man.

The jury also convicted both defendants on Tuesday of the special circumstance of committing murder during a robbery. Darryl Hill was also found guilty of discharging a weapon.

The men face the possibility of life without parole. They are scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 19.
