SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) - Orange County authorities are looking for 250 pounds of blasting powder and other explosives that were stolen from a remote canyon shed - and officials warn the stuff is deteriorating and unstable.
A Sheriff's Department statement says sticks of blasting powder,
blasting caps, fuses, detonating cord and delays were taken from a
locked container in Blackstar Canyon sometime between Sunday and
Authorities say the explosives had been stored for years in harsh conditions and are unstable. Officials say the condition of the explosives puts everyone in their vicinity at "incredible risk."
Sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino is urging the burglar to contact authorities so the material could be disposed of safely.
