LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say a train has struck
and killed a pedestrian in Orange County.
Lt. Dan Dwyer of the Sheriff's Department says the person was struck by a southbound train shortly before 3:30 p.m. Sunday while walking on the track near the intersection of Avery Parkway and Camino Capistrano. The tracks are behind chain link fencing in an industrial area.
Dwyer says details are limited and it's unclear whether the victim was a man or woman, or why they were on the tracks.
Trains in both directions were delayed but are expected to be moving again by 5:30.
