Man Arrested For Bludgeoning Teen With Garden Hoe

SONOMA, Calif. (AP) - An 18-year-old Sonoma County man is under
arrest on suspicion of attempted murder after a teenager was
bludgeoned in the face by a garden hoe.

Sonoma County Sheriff's Sgt. Tim Duke said detectives arrested Paul Moreno-Gutierres of Rohnert Park shortly after deputies responded early Saturday to a fight involving 10 to 15 people.

Duke said deputies arriving on the scene in Boyes Hot Springs found the teen on the ground with traumatic injuries to the left side of his face. Investigators determined he had been attacked with a 50-inch hoe.

Authorities said Moreno-Gutierres is also being charged with committing attempted murder in furtherance of a criminal street gang.

The victim, whose name was not released, was hospitalized in stable condition.
