Transient Suspected Of Igniting Fires At Griffith Park

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Authorities say a suspect has been arrested on suspicion of setting fires in Los Angeles' sprawling Griffith Park, including a three-acre blaze that broke out Saturday afternoon.
Los Angeles City Fire Department Battalion Chief John Miller said 43-year-old Gary Allen Lintz was detained after witnesses said they saw him fleeing the area of Saturday's brush fire. Lintz was on a bicycle and tried to blend in with a group of road bikers when he was arrested.
Lintz is a transient whose last known address was in Glendale. He was on probation for setting a Glendale structure fire in 2007.
Lintz is suspected of igniting a total of 8 wildfires that have burned in Griffith Park since July.
