LOS ANGELES (AP) - Federal authorities are charging an Upland cancer doctor with illegally importing drugs from Honduras and India.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph Widman says Dr. Vinod Chandrashekm Patwardhan was arrested Friday on the charge that carries a maximum penalty of three years in federal prison.
In the criminal complaint, Patwardhan's employees say he also shorted patients on single-dose cancer drugs and gave leftover medication to other patients.
Investigators say they searched Patwardhan's office on July 30
and found more than two dozen vials of unapproved drugs.
