Driver Dies, Passenger Injured In Car-Bus Crash

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Authorities say a driver has died and his
passenger was injured when their car collided with an empty school
bus.

Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey says the
accident occurred around 6:30 a.m. Friday at the intersection of
Slauson Avenue and Avalon Boulevard in South Los Angeles.

The driver of the compact car, a man around 30-years-old, was
pronounced dead at the scene. His 24 year-old passenger sustained
multiple lacerations and was taken to a hospital.

The school bus driver was unharmed and refused treatment. The bus ended up hitting a tree.

The Los Angeles Police transit division is investigating the cause of the crash.
