CAMPO, Calif. (AP) - Border Patrol agents found 223 pounds of
marijuana inside a white Ford Taurus with San Diego Gas & Electric
logos on the doors.
Agents in the backcountry 50 miles east of San Diego near Campo
got suspicious because the utility's fleet uses trucks, not sedans. A license plate check then determined it was registered to a Chevrolet Cavalier.
Border agents tried to stop the vehicle Tuesday morning but the driver made a U-turn in a run for the border. The Taurus then crashed in a brushy area.
The 28-year-old driver was arrested.
The utility logo stickers on the doors were fakes.
