Long Beach Police Say Hijackers Steal 54-Foot Big Rig

LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) - Long Beach police say hijackers waiting on a freeway on-ramp got away with a big prize: an 18-wheel truck loaded with high-end electronics.

Police spokeswoman Jackie Bezart says the owner-operator told
investigators he was heading onto the Long Beach Freeway shortly
before 1:30 a.m. Thursday when he was hijacked at gunpoint by three
men who got out of a vehicle parked on the side of the on-ramp.

The trucker said he was ordered out of his 54-foot-long truck and the hijackers drove it away on the freeway.

The trucker wasn't hurt.
