NEEDLES, Calif. (AP) - The pilot of a small, homebuilt plane was killed today when he made an emergency landing on Interstate 40 near Needles and a car crashed into the aircraft.
Three occupants of the car sustained minor injuries from a broken windshield.
San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Jodi
Miller says the Titan Tornado landed on I-40's offramp to I-95 north about 10 miles west of Needles in eastern San Bernardino County.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor describes the plane as an experimental, homebuilt-type craft.
