CASTRO VALLEY, Calif. (AP) - Two Castro Valley teens are dead
after the Corvette they were in smashed into a power pole.
Authorities say 18-year-old Clark Wright and 17-year-old Sarah Streicher were pronounced dead at the scene after Wright lost control of the car and it ran off Dublin Canyon Road at 12:43 a.m. Tuesday.
A California Highway Patrol spokesman says the Corvette was
traveling at high speed when it skidded 300 feet, left the road and
hit the pole.
The impact of the crash splintered the car into several pieces.
CHP Investigators believe the Corvette had been racing another car in another direction on the road sometime before the crash.
The CHP has not determined yet whether the Corvette was still racing at the time the driver lost control.
