Man Turns Self In After 11-Hour Police Standoff

PASADENA, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say an armed man barricaded
himself in his Pasadena garage with his 9-year-old son in an all-night standoff with police.

The man turned himself in after 11 hours at about 3:45 Tuesday morning.

Police spokeswoman Janet Pope Givens says officers were sent to
the home just before 5 p.m. Monday when a woman who had gone to
pick up her child said a man was inside with her 9-year-old and a
shotgun.

Police say the man released the boy unharmed four hours later.

At about midnight they say he came outside the house and fired shots, spurring the evacuation of many surrounding houses, but no one was hit.

Pope Givens says the man was taken to a hospital, but did not know the nature of his injuries.
