ALHAMBRA, Calif, (AP) - A woman is dead, apparently the victim of a hit-and-run driver after getting out of a her car on a Los Angeles County freeway.
California Highway Patrol officer Francisco Villalobos says the accident occurred around 2 a.m. Saturday on eastbound Interstate 10 near Atlantic Boulevard in Alhambra.
Initial callers to authorities reported a vehicle had crashed into the center divider. About 20 minutes later, the woman was struck and killed.
Villalobos says the victim is 25-35 years old. She apparently got out of her vehicle after the initial crash and was struck by a pickup truck, which kept going.
Eastbound traffic was shut down about an hour while the wreck was investigated.
