MARYSVILLE, Calif. (AP) - A former Marysville police officer has been convicted of authorizing the illegal strip search of a motorist who was stopped for not wearing a seat belt.
Jurors found Joshua Hendrickson guilty of authorizing Officer Amy Alfred to perform a body cavity search on Stacy May last January while cars passed by. Hendrickson stopped May's car because she was not wearing a seat belt.
Police Chief Wallace Fullerton said Friday that Hendrickson had left the police force, but did not say if he had been fired or resigned.
Alfred is scheduled to stand trial Sept. 23. Sentencing for Hendrickson is set for Sept. 15.
