Fire Camp Inmate Escapes, Steals Deputy Vehicle

YUCAIPA, Calif. (AP) - An inmate escaped a minimum-security fire
camp and broke into the home of a San Bernardino County sheriff's
deputy and stole his vehicle, a uniform and weapons.

Authorities say 28-year-old Oscar Delcid Jr., who was serving time for auto theft, has eluded capture.

Delcid and fellow inmate Damon Martinez escaped Thursday afternoon from the Oak Glen Conservation Camp near Yucaipa. Sheriff's spokeswoman Cindy Beavers says Martinez was later captured.

Delcid broke into the home of a sheriff's deputy and his wife, a San Bernardino police officer, and stole a gray Jeep, rifle, handgun and uniform.
