BODEGA BAY, Calif. (AP) - A kayaker swept into deep water off a
Sonoma County beach is safe after being rescued by the U.S. Coast
A Coast Guard spokesman says high winds pushed the boater away
from shore off Doran Beach near Bodega Bay.
Boatswain's Mate 1st Class Taylor Smith says a person on the beach spotted the kayaker tiring and called the Coast Guard station in San Francisco.
A 25-foot rescue boat stationed near the beach tracked down the
boater with help from onlookers at the beach and brought him ashore.
Authorities say the kayaker, whose name was not released, was
wearing a life jacket and was in good condition.
