Police say eight people were arrested after LAPD SWAT officers raided a San Fernando Valley home and rescued a 24-year-old man who was kidnapped and held for ransom.
LAPD Commander Patrick Gannon says the victim was found tied up in a garage with cuts and bruises on his face. He's hospitalized in stable condition. His name was not released.
The man called his mother Monday evening to say he had been kidnapped and his captors wanted money. Police also received ransom
Detectives coached the victim's family through negotiations and later figured out the man was being held in a Reseda home.
Gannon says SWAT officers broke into the home when they believed
the captors would kill the man.
Investigators are trying to determine why the man was targeted.
