Calif. Man Pleads Not Guilty in Double Slaying

QUINCY, Calif. (AP) - An 18-year-old man has pleaded not guilty in the slayings of two teenagers, including his former girlfriend.

Reyes Carrillo-Garcia is charged with killing Steven Daniel Furtado of Willows and Jennifer Carmen Carrigan of Chester in May. Both were 18.

Investigators say Carrillo-Garcia recalls struggling with Furtado but nothing else. He was formally arraigned and entered his plea during a hearing Monday in Plumas County Superior Court.

Furtado was visiting Carrigan at her home when they were stabbed
to death. Carrigan's mother found the bodies on Mother's Day, May
11.

The girl's brother, 20-year-old Billy Carrigan, died the same week when he crashed his pickup truck while driving home from the San Francisco Bay area after hearing of his sister's death.
