LOS ANGELES (AP) - A suspected gang member who barricaded
himself inside a house in south Los Angeles has been arrested
peacefully after a nine-hour standoff.
SWAT officers threw tear gas into the house at around 7 a.m. Friday and took the suspect into custody two hours later.
Police did not immediately release the man's name or booking details.
Officer Julianne Sohn says the man may have been armed when he
fled from officers who tried to stop him in an area known for drug
activity shortly before midnight. Two other men at the scene were
taken into custody for questioning.
Residents near the barricaded house were told to stay inside their homes or leave the area.
