GONZALES, Calif. (AP) - A 22-year-old man has been arrested in
the stabbing of a fellow resident at a Salinas Valley migrant labor
Francisco Gutierrez was taken into custody late Wednesday after police responded to a report of a man bleeding at the Violini Labor Camp in Gonzales.
Officers say they found the 28-year-old victim suffering from a severe stab wound to the chest. They allege the stabbing occurred during an argument.
The man was flown by helicopter to a hospital, where he underwent surgery. Police say he is expected to survive.
Gutierrez was booked for investigation of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.
