OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Oakland police are hoping they can find some witnesses who might be able to lead them to the mother of a newborn found in a dumpster this morning.
Police say an unconscious and unresponsive baby was found in a
garbage dumpster in downtown Oakland a little before 8:00.
Paramedics tried to revive the infant, but the baby was pronounced dead about an hour later at Children's Hospital Oakland.
Paramedics say the baby appears to have been about one month
It's not clear yet if the child was a boy or a girl.
