POLLOCK PINES, Calif. (AP) - Authorities have found the body of a 24-year-old Placerville man who appears to have drowned in a Northern California lake.
Divers with the El Dorado County Sheriff's department found the body of Matthew Sinclair on Monday in about 10 feet of water at Jenkinson Lake.
Investigators believe Sinclair died of head injuries after jumping off rocks the evening before at Sly Park Recreation Area, about 45 miles east of the state capital.
Sgt. Bryan Golmitz says Sinclair was found in an area frequented by divers despite posted warning signs. The shoreline is not vertical enough to safely jump into the lake.
Authorities say Sinclair told his family that he was going to look for rocks so he could jump into the lake. They reported him missing when he failed to return several hours later.
