Police: 12 To 15 Dead In Mexico Border Shootouts

TIJUANA, Mexico (AP) - Police in Tijuana say at least a dozen people are dead after a gun battle between rival drug traffickers.

Police say a shootout this morning killed 12 to 15 people and wounded several others.

Witnesses said gunmen fired at each other from moving cars on one of the city's main boulevards in the pre-dawn hours.

Photos taken at the scene showed bodies and assault rifles on the street.

Police say the gunmen may have been rivals from a single drug cartel violently settling their differences.

Drug gangs fighting turf wars have staged a series of bloody shootouts and assassinations in Tijuana in recent years.
