COLD SPRINGS, Calif. (AP) - Two homes have been destroyed in fires that spread after burning debris was left unattended in El Dorado and Tuolumne counties.
A spokesman for the state Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, Daniel Berlant, says one home, a vehicle and a boat were destroyed by a fire that charred 20 acres just east of Sonora. Two other homes were damaged.
A second home was destroyed by a fire that covered 10 to 15 acres in El Dorado County about 30 miles east of Sacramento.
Berlant says in both cases the fires spread Friday when people burning grass, pine needles or other debris left those fires unattended.
