Lawmakers Call For Probe Into Sheriff's Detention At Brothel

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. (AP) - Two federal lawmakers are calling for an investigation into why San Mateo County's sheriff and undersheriff were detained at an illegal brothel in Las Vegas last year.

Rep. Jackie Speier, D-Hillsborough, and Rep. Anna Eshoo, D-Palo
Alto, want the Board of Supervisors to conduct an inquiry into the
conduct of Sheriff Greg Munks and Undersheriff Carlos Bolanos.

Munks and Bolanos were briefly detained by Las Vegas police on
April 21, 2007.

Bolanos says they were at the brothel because Munks was feeling
sore and they had asked a limo driver to take them to a massage
parlor. He says they didn't know it was a brothel.

Munks says he was embarrassed by the incident but insists he didn't break the law.
