ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say a small brush fire in the foothills above Arcadia and Monrovia briefly threatened homes and a school before being doused by firefighters.
Fire officials say the blaze broke out around 2 p.m. Sunday in a wooded canyon above Foothills Middle School and below the
Whispering Pines Estates subdivision. Four homes were evacuated.
Crews using trucks and helicopters had the fire out in about an hour. No houses were damaged.
Officials say high temperatures and dry conditions helped feed the fire but the lack of wind made it easier to contain.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
