SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Three passengers are safe after a fire that
engulfed their yacht forced them to abandon ship and plunge into
the frigid waters of San Francisco Bay.
Flames engulfed the 43-foot yacht "No Worries" late Saturday
afternoon, sending up a huge plume of black smoke near the San
Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge.
Coast Guard officials say they called in a San Francisco Fire
Department fire boat to extinguish the flames, but the boat burned to the waterline and sank.
Another boater who had seen the three passengers flee the burning vessel pulled them from the water.
The Coast Guard says all three were returned to shore uninjured.
