Oakland Gets 28 New Police Officers To Combat Violence

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - The city of Oakland is getting 28 new police officers to patrol its violent streets today.

There have been 38 homicides so far this year in Oakland compared to 28 at this time last year.

Another graduating class is expected to produce about 30 officers in July.
