SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) - Authorities identified the body of a pilot found this week in the wreckage of a small plane in the San Bernardino Mountains.
Dean William Carson, 52, of La Mirada and Big Bear Lake was confirmed as the victim by the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department.
Carson was president of Transit Sales International and ShuttleBus Leasing of Riverside, TSI said on its Web site. A statement said he was an experienced pilot and the accident occurred during his daily commute.
Carson departed Flabob Airport in Rubidoux at 9:15 p.m. Tuesday on a flight to Big Bear Airport. He was reported overdue shortly after midnight and searchers spotted the wreckage on Butler Peak, eight miles west of Big Bear Airport at 8:22 a.m. Wednesday, a sheriff's press release said.
The cause of the crash was under investigation.
