REDWOOD CITY, Calif. (AP) - A former auditor for San Mateo County has received 16 months in prison for possessing thousands of child pornography images that were stored on computers, including a county laptop.
The former auditor, 39-year-old Alex Kerr, could have received two years in prison for the images, but pleaded no contest to one count of child pornography possession. With credit for time served, Kerr is expected to serve a little more than four months.
Kerr was caught by FBI agents who were monitoring the users of a
child pornography Web site. The agents tracked the user to a county
computer on which Kerr had downloaded 4,000 photographs of young
girls and 140 videos.
Kerr is the father of a 14-year-old daughter and an 11-year-old son. His wife recently filed for divorce.
