NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (AP) - Police say a teenage boy is dead
after being pulled from the waters off the Orange County Coast.
Police Sgt. Jay Short says the boy's family reported him missing in the waters off Newport Beach at about 5 p.m., and he was pulled from the water by lifeguards minutes later and a police helicopters was sent to the scene.
Short says the boy was taken to Hoag Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities have not released the boy's name.
