LOS ANGELES (AP) - Los Angeles Police say officers have killed
one man and wounded another in a pair of shootouts in the same area
just a few hours apart.
Officer April Harding says officers were trying to stop a suspect on a bike just before 9 p.m. Thursday night when the man fired on police. Harding says the officers returned fire and hit the man, who later died at a hospital.
About 2½ hours later within the same closed-off crime scene, another man fired on officers, setting off a shootout that left the suspect wounded. Harding says he is at a hospital in stable condition.
Harding says no officers were hit in either incident.
Police don't believe the shootings were connected.
The names of the two suspects have not been released.
