Police: U.S. Deputy Marshal Kills Man After Hollywood Scuffle

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Police say an off-duty deputy U.S. marshal shot and killed a man during a scuffle near a Hollywood tattoo parlor.

Los Angeles police say the marshal was arguing with his wife shortly before midnight Wednesday and she shouted for help.

Twenty-six-year-old Ryan Daniel Gonzalez, who worked at the parlor, came to her aid. Police say he pulled a gun and began punching the deputy marshal in the head.

Police say the marshal broke free, identified himself as a lawman, and fired when the man continued to brandish the gun. The Ontario man died at a hospital.

The name of the marshal was not released. He was arrested for
investigation of domestic battery. Police say the shooting remains
under investigation.
