A judge has given a one-year jail term to a San Jose woman who watched her 6-year-old son get stomped to death and then helped bury his body behind a house.
Kathryn Jimenez was initially charged as an accessory in the February 2007 murder of her son, Oscar.
She pleaded guilty to that charge and a separate charge of child endangerment.
Judge Jerome Nadler handed down the comparatively light jail term along with five years probation today after accepting defense arguments that Jimenez also was a victim of domestic violence.
Her boyfriend, Samuel Corona, is awaiting trial for murder in Oscar's death.
