Lost Man Survived on Bugs, Salamanders

SANTA ROSA, Calif. (AP) - A Santa Rosa man who went missing for
two days in rural Mendocino County survived on a diet of bugs and
salamanders.

Twenty-nine-year-old Nicholas Montoya was found late Tuesday by
search and rescue teams that had been walking the roads looking for
him.

He went missing Sunday night while riding his motorcycle west of Willits with his friend. The two men were running low on fuel and became separated.

To keep his strength up, Montoya ate several beetles and a salamander as steady rains drenched him. Authorities say despite being cold, wet and hungry, Montoya was unharmed.
