Antioch Home Catches Fire After Suspected Drunken-Driving Crash

An Antioch man burned in a fire that started when a suspected drunken driver crashed into his house has been released from the hospital.

Police said they arrested Terry Franklin on suspicion of driving under the influence after he tried to flee the scene just before 5 p.m. Saturday.

The crash snapped a gas meter and started a fire in the car that spread to the house.

Resident Miguel Gomez escaped from the burning home but not before suffering what authorities called minor to moderate burns.

He was treated at Sutter Delta Medical Center in Antioch.
