AUBURN, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say a 14-year-old boy is in custody on suspicion of molesting kids at an oft-troubled Northern California day care center.
Placer County Sheriff Edward Bonner said the boy was arrested on Tuesday on accusations of committing lewd and lascivious acts with four children between the ages of 3 and 5 years old at the Colored Pencils daycare center in Auburn.
Placer County Sheriff Edward Bonner said Wednesday that the boy is the son of the day center's owner. The boy's name has not been released.
The State Department of Social Services closed the center on Tuesday. The case remains under investigation.
According to state documents, the center has been previously cited repeatedly for violations including lack of supervision and improper sleeping areas since its opening in 2005.
