LOS ANGELES (AP) - A fire that roared through an old residential hotel in the Los Angeles harbor area has injured 14 people, three critically.
Fire spokesman Erik Scott says one woman may have broken bones when she jumped from a second-floor window of the San Pedro Inn at about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday.
He says other residents were dissuaded from jumping by firefighters, who rescued them with ladders.
It took 150 firefighters 34 minutes to extinguish the blaze, which spread rapidly through the 1923 building and sent flames soaring through the roof.
Arson investigators are at the scene but Scott says there's no word yet on what caused the blaze.
