A teenager was shot to death and two men were wounded when a dance floor stabbing escalated into a melee outside a downtown Los Angeles nightclub.
Police say violence erupted at about 1:30 a.m. Friday at the LA Crash Mansion, a newly reopened and renamed nightclub at Olympic Boulevard and Grand Avenue that caters to an 18-and-over crowd.
Detectives say a young woman was stabbed in the arm on the dance
floor and the crowd began to leave in large numbers.
Lt. Paul Vernon says "that's when a man with a gun started shooting at other men in the parking lot."
Joseph Cosina was shot multiple times. The 19-year-old Downey man died later at California Hospital. Two other men and the woman who was stabbed were treated at the hospital for non-life threatening wounds.
