Prosecutors say they will try a 16-year-old boy as an adult for the murder of a Sacramento County Sheriff's detective.
Jimmy Siackasorn, of Sacramento, will also face charges of intentionally killing a peace officer on the job and enhancements for discharging a firearm and engaging in criminal conduct associated with a street gang.
Detective Vu Nguyen, 37, was shot in the neck as he chased a
suspected gang member through backyards and over fences in south
Sacramento on Wednesday afternoon. He was a veteran detective
assigned to gang investigations.
The Sacramento County district attorney's office said Siackasorn will be arraigned Monday. If convicted, he would face up to life in prison without parole for the charges.
